Abstract

The study reacts on the presentation of the EU legislative package concerning the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office and the related reform of Eurojust in mid-2013. Its aim is to describe the roots of this initiative and further development until its currently proposed form, including legal framework for its realization.

It offers a comparison between the proposed form of the Office according to previous projects and the current one presented within the legislative package that represents the very first concrete initiative of the European Commission to establish it. Following the characteristics of the individual proposals of the package, the study also deals with the outcomes of their discussion, including the position of the Czech Republic on this issue and the future prospects.
