Abstract

This article deals with the relationship between economy and religion, emphasizing interconnections and mutual influences. The first part summarizes the famous proposition of Max Weber about the impact of the "Protestant ethic" on modern Western capitalism.

Conversely, the second part focuses on the boom of Pentecostal religiosity in Latin America as a result of local neoliberal conditions. The last part examines the resemblance of religion and economy in the view of socially constructed complexes.
