This study analyses business contacts between Živnostenská Bank and the Smíchov-based Ringhoffer Company during the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938). The subject is treated within a context of not only relations between Živnostenská Bank and the Ringhoffer Company, but within a broader perspective of other companies belonging to the Ringhoffer Group, which the bank had also cooperated with.
The author describes Živnostenská Bank's contribution to the foundation and development of this concern and Ringhoffer Group's cooperation with other financial institutions. The final part deals with the question, whether Ringhoffer Company could be viewed as part of Živnostenská Bank's banking concern.
This contribution is a case study aimed at investigating relations between commercial banking and industry during the interwar era.
