The article briefly introduces Czech library landscape from a technological viewpoint, focusing on integrated library systems and current challenges. A number of libraries consider moving to another ILS.
Therefore, it is essential that library managers know how to proceed, e.g. how to search for relevant information, how to make an informed choice when selecting a particular library system or how to prepare the library for the upcoming change. Recently, Czech librarians have had the opportunity to participate in several professional events to discuss this topic in detail.
Overall, it appears that it is rather useful to consider the whole process as a project which can be subdivided into five key phases. These are project planning, software selection, preparatory steps, migration and early production phase.
