The core@shell nanoparticles combine the advantages of the two different materials. The optical, electrical, chemical and catalytic properties can by tuned by combining specific core and shell materials.

In general the silver nanoparticles show plasmon resonance dependent on the diameter of the particle and the titania is known for its photocatalytic properties. To achieve the core@shell structure of the nanoparticles it was chosen to sputter the shell material from the two parallel targets.

The nanoparticles were formed in the gas aggregation source (GAS) of Haberland type. Silver nanoparticles were formed in GAS and as the semifocused beam flew along the axis between two magnetrons.

According to the deposition conditions the nanoparticle size and the shell thickness were changed. The composition of the prepared nanoparticles was studied by XPS and STEM.

The size of the nanoparticles was wieved by SEM, TEM and SAXS. The optical properties were measured by UV-VIS spektrophotometer.
