Abstract

Although, or perhaps because we still don't know what's the good of labour pain, there is still even the polarization between two extreme views - to do not affect the labour pain and conversely, to suppress it in the maximum possible extent. The experience of each individual woman with labour pain is extremely complex, comprehensive and above all an individual matter.

Probably the most effective and safest method that requires at least other interventions during the course of delivery is continuous individualized support of parturient in the whole (!) peripartum period. But if this support is insufficient or ineffective, it is appropriate to use some of the current methods of obstetric analgesia, while epidural methods show clearly the highest efficiency.
