The paper deals with the issue of children's homes in today's society. It aims to present to the professional public the partial results of the research that is currently underway in the Children's Home Klánovice.
We use a combination of qualitative research methods, such as observations, interviews and analysis of pedagogical documentation. In this phase of the research, we focus mainly on the original family environment of children and map the changes that occur after coming to the Klánovice Children's Home.
The results so far show that the influence of a dysfunctional family on the child is devastating. The child comes to the Children's Home with already anchored negative models of behavior and with low social and educational competencies.
We notice frequent difficulties in communication between children and teachers, which would confirm Bernstein's theory of language codes.
