Triangle in teaching geometry - few unusual problems

Publication at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |

Abstract

Triangles are quite usual figures in synthetic geometry at elementary levels, but not so common when it comes to analytic viewpoint. I show few inspiring problems which I developed when teaching basic course of AG for future teachers: searching for triangles of given area and perimeter or constructing them from points including centroid, orthocenter or other "triangle centers".

These problems combine synthetic and analytic thinking and provide both university and high school students with opportunity to exercise their geometric imagination, also supported with GeoGebra.
