Abstrakt
1st Prague Descriptive Linguistics' Online Workshop. This workshop brings together linguists with rich fieldwork experience.
It mainly focuses on, but is not limited to, practical issues facing field linguists which are difficult to prepare for: finding good consultants, gaining the trust of gatekeepers and communities, dealing with unexpected cultural differences, whether to and how to reward consultants, potential problems with apprehensive local authorities, etc. Participants are encouraged to share their personal experiences and methods they use to deal with obstacles that arise from different social, cultural and political settings.
Unless the content is deemed too sensitive, the audiovisual recording of presentations is to be edited to remove personal details and made available to broader audience though streaming services.
