Action research is a specific type of research performed by educators themselves in their class. The aim is to improve teaching process.
The implementation of action research consists of several sequential steps. The teacher at first formulates the problem, proposes its solution and then this solution is put into the practice and evaluated.
If the problem is not solved out sufficiently, the whole process is repeated. The carrying out the full cycle of action research properly is important skill for teachers and they should be prepared for it already during their study at universities.
However, there has not been paid sufficient attention to this issue so far. Our study focused on diploma theses showed that the action research was used in more than half of them.
At the same time, it was found that many students had no knowledge of this type of research as well as its individual steps.
