Abstract

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are clonal hematopoietic stem-cell disorders with bone marrow cells displaying aberrant morphology and maturation, resulting in ineffective blood cell production. The diagnosis is primarily based on a combination of morphological and cytogenetic bone marrow examination.Morphological assessment of myelodysplastic features in bone marrow is influenced by inaccuracy of subjectivity, cytogenetic shows a normal karyotype in a number of cases, FCM is therefore a valuable method for reassuring the diagnosis of MDS.
