The aim of this analysis is to provide a comprehensive overview on the legal framework for the involvement of national parliaments in decision-making procedures at EU level under the Lisbon Treaty, as well as on its application and practical impact. It summarizes principal ways how national parliaments possibly can participate in drafting and adopting of EU legislation.
Their order follows logical interconnectedness of the mechanisms described, but also the relation to respective EU institutions, in particular the European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament.
