Abstract

This talk was a part of the Morphology course lead by Daniel Ross at UC Riverside. It presented the principles of nonconcatenative morphology found in Arabic and partly also other Semitic and Afro-Asiatic languages.

It also illustrated the productivity of the templatic system in modern varieties of Arabic. It also served as a brief introduction into the Afro-Asiatic language family and Arabic in general.
