Abstract

The chapter presents results of a survey focused on youth studying in high schools and universities within the Czech Republic. The attitudes towards people with special needs and towards joint education of persons with and without disability in mainstream schools were investigated.

The survey was carried out within the research project of Grant Agency of the Czech Republic ?Special education in conditions of inclusive education? by Květoňová et al. The scale ?Opinion Relating to the Integration of Students with Disabilities (ORI)? was used in the first phase of the project.

This scale helps to investigate various themes connected with joint education of people with and without disability, e.g., behaviour of pupils integrated in the mainstream classroom, their educational possibilities, the positives and negatives of their integration, the attitudes and load of educators in connection with their integration into mainstream schools.
