"Digital" fundamental rights in the hands of private entities in the light of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU

Abstract

The chapter deals with the draft of the so-called Charter of Digital Fundamental Rights, which aims to adapt human rights catalogs to the reality of the modern digital economy. The chapter assesses the reasons for the inclusion of new fundamental rights in this document and the need for such inclusion.

The chapter also deals with relevant legal developments, eg. in the Council of Europe.
