Abstract

In the same year, in which we commemorate the tenth anniversary of the anti-discrimination law, the European Committee against Racism and Intolerance of the Council of Europe is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary. One year earlier, in 2018, twenty years had passed since the adoption of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities of the Council of Europe.

All these events have become more than a cause for celebration, an opportunity to express concerns and concerns in relation to the protection of equality and non-discrimination, and one of the other stops on the current crisis of liberal democracy. They take place at a time when the erosion of tolerance, plurality and solidarity is becoming not only an instrument but also a goal of autocratic politicians across continents and encroaching on the essential basis of modern democracy - political equality.
