Abstract

The so-called refugee crisis of 2015 (hereinafter referred to in this chapter as 'the migrant crisis') and the events following it have significantly changed the dynamics of political discourses across Europe. Naturally, the change has also left its mark in national and EU law.

One of the keys to understand the new situation is the process of political and legal 'othering' that took place among European societies and the migrants as well as within European societies. This chapter aims to explore these dynamics.
