Continuous glucose monitoring in elderly patients treated with insulin

Publication |
2020

Abstract

Elderly patients with diabetes mellitus treated with insulin are at risk of hypoglycaemia. Hypoglycaemia is associated with increased morbidity and mortality.

Comorbidities, sensory and cognitive disorders, often present at old age, reduce the ability to maintain regularity in diet and motoric exercise. The result is greater fluctuations in glycaemia.
