Abstract

The study is devoted to the role of the Prague bishop Chapter as a center of historiographic work in the Czech lands. In the first quarter of the 12th century, a basic work on the history of the Czech nation, state and church was created here, the Czech Chronicle of the Dean of the Prague Chapter Cosmas (+ 1125).

The work of Kosmas continued the First Successor of Cosmas, who captured the Czech history of the period 1125-1142. The reign of Vladislav II. (1140-1172) portrayed the chaplain of the Prague bishop and the Prague canon and notary Vincencius.

A number of historiographical writings were created in the Prague Chapter in the 13th century (The Second Continuation of Cosmas). At the beginning of the 1440s, Francis of Prague wrote Czech history from the reign of Wenceslas I until 1341.

The second continuation of Cosmas was immediately followed by the Prague canon, construction director of the Prague Cathedral Beneš Krabice of Weitmile, whose work "large" historical writings written in the chapter ends.
