Abstract

In recent decades, the incidence of eating disorders as well as knowledge of their complex biopsychosocial risks has been increasing. In clinical practice we increasingly have experience with patients whose families have some form of eating disorder spectrum in several generations.

Understanding the interaction of genetic, epigenetic and environmental risks and traumas in disease development and their impact on prognostic factors enables us to improve psycho-educational, preventive and comprehensive treatment approaches.
