These facts may lead to an increase in the specific negative stress - diabetic distress (DD) and consequently reduce an adherence to treatment. This paper is focused on the presentation of the DD concept, its differential diagnostics from other selected mental disorders, and introduction of methods measuring subjective perception of DD. lt also emphasizes the importance of psychological intervention in relation to DD and personality traits, which is amended with an illustrative case report.
