How Many Different Landscapes Do We Have Here? The Variety of Landscapes and the Search for their Boundaries

Abstract
The paper presents selected existing landscape classifications in the Czech Republic. By ratification of The European Landscape Convention the Czech Republic committed itself to creating an appropriate classification of the landscape for the purpose of its protection, management and planning.
Although several classifications have been developed for the state territory, none has yet been adopted and used uniformly by the state administration to monitor ongoing changes and to design territorially-specific management and landscape planning.
