Abstract
The paper deals with the basic principles of criminal proceedings. To begin, their conceptual definition and their importance for criminal proceedings are explained.
Attention is paid to selected aspects related to the basic principles (classification, enumeration and expression of principles, exceptions). The author concludes that the basic principles should also be regulated in the new Criminal Procedure Code in its introduction, in a concentrated and explicit way.
In terms of content, the author is inclined to adopt a continental concept of fundamental principles.
