Abstract

The family is a basic institution of the human society where the demographic reproduction takes place and where lives of the family members are formed. Everyone has an experience and idea what the family is.

Seemingly it is an uncomplicated topic, but just the reverse is true. Defining the concept of the family is not easy in the research as well as capturing of all family forms and its changes.

Věra Kuchařová, Jana Barvíková, Sylva Hőhne, Kristýna Janurová, Olga Nešporová, Jana Paloncyová, Kamila Svobodová a Lucie Vidovićová, book authors, aimed to map the state of the family in the Czech Republic and its changes since the year 2000. The book Czech family at the beginning of the 21st century is based on the Report on family 2017, which was published by the Research institute for labour and social affairs and follows the publication National report about family 2004.
