Abstract

The monograph deals with the broad contexts of foreign language literature and its mediation in foreign language teaching: the relationship between literature and culture, literature and language, literature as an object and a means of education. It focuses on the issue of literary canon and textual corpus, innovation of didactic principles modified for the needs of working with foreign language literary texts.

He finds perspectives in the study of the connections between reading in the mother tongue and in a foreign language, in a closer connection between the tertiary and secondary spheres of education. The publication focuses mainly on German literature for children and young people, the connecting element of the individual research areas are examples from literary works with the theme of World War II.
