Abstract
The text devoted to the search for signs of power in the classical definition of Max Weber, his followers and opponents. Particular attention is paid to whether coercion is necessary for the exercise of power.
Authority is distinguished. The conclusion is to reflect on the extent to which the classical definition is reflected in the definition of public power.
