Euroregions and their role in boosting active borders and the European integration

Abstract

This article aims to analyse the importance of the cross-border cooperation as a key element of the European integration. It introduces the concept of 'active border' and the challenge of overcoming the potential negative effects of borders.

It discusses the role of Euroregions as a specific cross-border structure in the processes of Europeanisation with particular emphasis on linguistic barriers.
