Abstrakt
The chapter examines the Gate productions of the brothers Čapek plays (1929, 1931, 1943), discusses the complicated textual history of the English versions and compares their staging with the celebrated original productions in Czechoslovakia, juxtaposing their reception and its theatrical and political contexts.
