Abstract

The activity with project elements called "Nature conservationists" is focused on 8th grade students, who are divided into smaller groups of 3-4. The activity is divided into three blocks of two lessons, in which groups of students work on individual tasks.

In the first part, students come up with concepts on the topic of "pollution" which they further interconnect. Subsequently, all groups create a common mind map.

At this moment, the groups choose one type of pollution and become "experts" in the field. In the next block of lessons, students look for information on a given topic and an experiment that can prove adverse effects on the environment and organisms.

In the last part of the activity, they present their work, an annotated experiment and a proposal for solutions to reduce specific pollution. The whole presentation is documented in a form of video, as an ecological spot, which is intended for school students within the framework of environmental education.

The aim of this activity is to raise students' awareness of global pollution, competence development and critical thinking. The effectiveness of the activity is measured by a retention concept map and a IMI questionnaire focused on the course of the entire activity.
