Abstract

Bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways associated with bronchial hyperresponsiveness and variable, often reversible bronchial obstruction. At present, asthma is usually a well- -treatable disease, the basic pillar of treatment is a combination of anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator therapy.

In terms of response to pharmacotherapy, there is an easily treatable asthma on one pole and a problematic severe asthma on the other pole. Biological therapy is reserved for the most severe forms of asthma, which are resistant to the maximum usual treatment, which, according to current international recommendations, takes precedence over long-term therapy with systemic corticoids.
