Abstract
Microvillus inclusion disease (MVID) is a rare intestinal disorder characterized by severe watery diarrhea and malabsorption that is typically apparent within hours or days after birth. It may result in severe life-threatening dehydration, deficiency of basic nutrients, failure to thrive and metabolic acidosis.
It does not decrease with age and infants with this disorder require permanent total parenteral nutrition. We report a clinical case of newborn infant with typical course of microvillous inclusion disease.
Diagnostic approach and management including nutritional requirements are described.
