What it brings and what it means to teach with the peer instruction method

Abstract

Studies of the past decade show that with the advancing years of schooling, the attitudes of Czech pupils towards mathematics deteriorate and that their understanding of this discipline is not at a good level. The aim of this paper is to discuss the possibilities and pitfalls of implementing the peer instruction method in the teaching of mathematics in primary school with regard to the effort to cultivate pupils' understanding and to improve their relationship to mathematics.
