Abstract
This text asks about the essence of respect and its educational consequences. But the question regarding respect cannot find its proper answer without questioning the mode of being of the modern man, that means, we must make clear how modern man answers the question: what is the meaning of being? After we clarify this question, we interpret Plato's text from Republic concerning the Good as the highest and the most respectable.
Finally, we follow this discovery in its connection with education.
