Abstract
The chapter deals with the question of whether we can teach a person respect and self-esteem. The author analyzes the traditional forms of respect in the philosophical and religious tradition and the ability to express respect in the present, when the forms of traditional authority that aroused respect were questioned.
It defines the preconditions for building self-esteem in both teachers and students.
