From Classical "Oriental" Poetry to Turkish National Literature

Abstract

The chapter shows to which "Turkish" topics Dvořák paid attention, the way he represented the Turks in his work and how his perceptions changed over time. It asks to what extent Dvořák's views represented the approach to the Turks, or Muslims more generally, prevailing at his time, and in what respect his work was original.
