Abstract

This study deals with the Martin Luther's approach to the Bible. The author tries to put Luther's exegesis into wider context of the exegetical sources and methods of the Late Middle Ages.

In the first part, we are trying to introduce Luther's social context and position. Main part of the article describes the most influential figures and resources of his time.

In the final part, we are trying to answer the question of (dis)continuity of Luther's exegetical approach.
