The Celebration of Pascha-Easter in the time of Ephrem and in his hymns

Abstract

The chapter deals with the history of the date of the celebration of Easter in the Post-Nicean period and how the Christian community defined itself against the so-called quartodecimans. Ephraim's Easter hymns are evidence of this controversy and at the same time positively include a deepening of the theology of Christian Easter in the direction of the cosmic dimension of the celebration of Christ's resurrection.
