The reflections in this article are guided by the basic thesis that the systematic place that science and technology occupy in Scheler's thought is defined by his conception of "Daseinsrelativität". A further thesis relates from there to Scheler's concept of life.
The theory of Daseinsrelativity shows that the facts indicated by the conceptual pair of 'spirit' and 'life' form neither a dualism nor a rigid polarity, but rather that both principles must work into each other for something like Daseinsrelativity to become plausible.
