Abstract

The chapter studies the contribution of ingots from Bohemia and Hungary in relation to the silver circulating in the triangle of trade relations between Central Europe, northern Italy and Flanders from the 13th to the 15th century, all by discussing the role of the Roman Curia in the process of monetization. The analysis shows that gold coins of Central European origin were used in the Rhineland and Bavaria on a much larger scale than in Italy.
