Abstract

The author deals with single-leaf prints in 15th century manuscripts from Bohemia and Moravia. He compares the behaviour of the audience in the Czech Lands with Southern Germany and the Rhine-Maas Region.

Although the audience in Bohemia and Moravia was able to acquire any prints from the then production, it was characterized by a considerably conservative approach. This is, after all, a new argument that Moravia and Bohemia cannot be considered the cradle of single-leaf woodcuts.
