Based on the current theoretical background of art pedagogy and research probe, realized in the context of contemporary painting and gallery education, this article attempts to update knowledge of the perception of visual arts of preschool children. An Open Gallery Education Program was created for the research data collection.
Analyzing data by grounded theory, we came to the conclusion that the preschool children involved in our research were able to react sensitively to the artworks, they were interested in the medium of the artworks and in gallery space. We believe that this sensitivity needs to be encouraged.
