Abstract

The postinfarction rupture of the left ventricle (RVSLK) belongs, together with the defect of the ventricular septum and rupture of the papillary muscle of the mitral valve betweenb the mechanical complications of the myocardial infarction. It was described in 1647 by William Harvey.

The theory of causal relationship between myocardial and coronary artery occlusion was pronounced in 1850. The first successful operation of the RVSLK was published in 1971 by FitzGibbon.
