Abstract

Harmonisation of employment and family life has been an important and topical issue for a long time. Many changes have been implemented; in some respects, Czech legislation provides a higher degree of protection than Work life balance directive requires.

However, there are still some gaps to cover. Measures already taken should allow primarily for more flexible forms of work and should help women return to work after their maternity and parental leave, but also to their better positions at the labour market and their higher employability.

The latter has been much worse in comparison with mothers of older children and particularly with men.
