Abstract

Both the title poems and other Čapek's prison verses, formally very precise, often maintaining a demanding strophic, metric, rhyme and figural composition, can be understood, among other things, on the principle of interweaving several dominant thematic areas and planes, which precisely through sharpened polarization, however, the opposition, composed with a consistent effort to express the paradoxical reciprocity of both perspectives, forms the key to understanding the aesthetic effect and seriousness of the message.
