Abstract

The author of the article first generally defines the spiritual care provided by the religious communities in public institutions 1. for the benefit of their members, 2. for the benefit of anyone (service of presence and service of listening) and 3. for the benefit of the public outside the spiritual care in public institutions (e.g. spiritual care for people released from hospitals or prisons). In the next part of his paper he describes the principles of spiri-tual care in public institutions in the Czech Republic.

The last part deals with spiritual care for the benefit of the police, fire brigades, victims of crime, victims of disasters and people released from prisons in the Czech Republic.
