Hic sunt leones (vel canes). On southern imports in the pre-oppida period (and their frowny offsprings)

Abstract
The paper presents two bronze fragments from Němčice nad Hanou, identified as remains of Hellenistic situlae, probably of the stamnoid spouted type. It is not clear whether the artefcts arrived in Moravia along with other imports of the LT B2 horizon or only during the peak of the Němčice centre in LT C2.
In any case the finds attest contacts with the Carpathian basin or the Adriatic coast rather than with the area of origin of the vessels. Te fact that this type of situlae was well known in Transalpine Europe is documented by their local Late La Tène imitations: spouts in the form of dog heads and -newly identified as such- hook attachments in the shape of afrowning human face.
