As in other medical disciplines, there are rapid changes in surgery, mainly due to the development of instrumentation, electronization and robotics, but also the discovery of new drugs, which often radically change established procedures for many years and in many cases fundamentally change the philosophy of approach to surgery patient and his disease. Modern surgery is flexibly adapting to these trends, however, the basic surgical procedures, approaches and postulates remain, often for centuries, unchanged.
Above all, access to electronic media offers today's medical student an inexhaustible amount of information from various sources, which can be a trap and a handicap due to the inconsistency and abundance of information, or, conversely, superficiality and simplification of data provided. The aim of the presented publication was to unify the basic facts and information about the field of surgery so that it would bring the necessary information to the student, but it would not be overwhelmed by the information bias.
Propaedeutics means "pre-education", so this textbook should open a window for students to the world of surgical disciplines so that in the next years of study they can build on the acquired knowledge and further deepen it. The textbook should correspond and complement each other with the knowledge that the student will receive in practical exercises and lectures.
The book is intended for medical students, but young doctors will also find useful information in it.
