?Czech Churches in Transition?

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2007

Abstract

This chapter offers an analysis of the process of how Czech churches have thus far dealt with coming to terms with the time of communism. It concentrates on the political activities of church representatives who supported the totalitarian regime, on the dissent within churches, as well as on the changes in the perception of religion in Czech society after the fall of communism and the extent to which these influence the present position of the churches in the country.

Possibilities of how to remember the past in ways that help a more truthful understanding of the present as well as hope for the future are sketched in the conclusion.
