Abstract

Sevoflurane is a halogenated inhalation anesthetic used to induce and conduct general anesthesia in adult and pediatric patients during hospitalization or outpatient surgery. Sevoflurane is a volatile anesthetic that provides hypnosis, amnesia, analgesia, immobilization, and autonomic blockade during surgery and procedure.

It is a volatile, non-flammable and non-irritant compound with low solubility and blood-gas partition coefficient. and the glutamate receptor in the central nervous system. Sevoflurane is administered to the patient's respiratory system using a sevoflurane calibrated vaporizer connected to an anesthesia machine.

Sevoflurane undergoes minimal hepatic metabolism or renal excretion.
