This part focuses on the role of somatic idioms in the introduction of direct speech. When comparing the introductory verbs in different languages, it turned out that Czech has a more varied repertoire than other languages.
Somatic idioms can be a description of a gesture or express a certain attitude to the content of direct speech and thus stylistically enhance the text. These situations occur mainly in fiction and the probe shows that some somatic idioms in this function are more used by translators.
